EZPass perks end for former NJ transit Execs

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - June 4, 2008 State Transportation Commissioner Kris Kolluri said Wednesday that NJ Transit has asked 49 former board members and executives to turn in passes that have allowed them to ride its trains, buses and light rail lines for free.

Meanwhile, 23 former New Jersey Turnpike Authority officials have been asked to turn back E-ZPass tags they got when they left their posts.

Kolluri says it's a matter of principle at a time when everyone in state government is being asked to cut back.

The move comes days after the Metropolitan Transportation Authority in New York announced a similar move.
