Theft charges for head of Philly Home-School Assn

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - November 13, 2008 Police say 53-year-old Greg Wade was arrested Monday and charged with embezzling at least $60,000 in council funds and writing another $62,000 worth of bad checks from council accounts.

According to court documents, he faces charges ranging from theft and forgery to tampering with records and deceitful business practices.

Wade is free on bail awaiting a preliminary hearing Nov. 17.

Efforts to contact him were unsuccessful.

The Home and School Council is an umbrella group for all home-and-school associations at public and charter schools in the city. Wade is not a Philadelphia School District employee.
