Sonar may have located jet engine in river
NEW YORK (AP) - January 20, 2009 New York Police Department spokesman Paul Browne said Tuesday
that the object is 16 feet long and 8 feet wide. It's in about 60
feet of water north of the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum.
The NYPD says the currents are too strong to put a robotic
device into the murky water to confirm whether the object is the
engine. Divers are in the water trying to examine the object.
The Airbus A320 crash-landed in the Hudson last week after
hitting birds and losing thrust in both engines. All 155 people on
board survived.
