Recalls: Arbonne Peanut Butter Chews, Nuggets

January 26, 2009 - Arbonne International LLC is recalling certain lots of its Arbonne Figure 8 Peanut Butter Chews because the products could be contaminated with salmonella. This organism can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections, especially in young children, the elderly and those with weakened immune systems. There have been no reports of illnesses, according to the Irvine, Calif., company. The Arbonne Figure 8 Chews were distributed nationwide through independent Arbonne consultants. - Whole Foods Market is recalling its Whole Foods Carob Energee Nuggets because they could be contaminated with salmonella. This organism can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections, especially in young children, the elderly and those with weakened immune systems. The products were distributed to Whole Foods Market stores in California, Oregon, Washington and Nevada with a UPC code of 999482-000274. -Jewel-Osco, a division of Supervalu Inc., is recalling its Happy Tails multi-flavored dog biscuits because they could be contaminated with salmonella. In pets, this organism can cause diarrhea, vomiting, fever and abdominal pain and can be transferred to other animals or humans. The organism can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections, especially in young children, the elderly and those with weakened immune systems. The products were sold at Jewel-Osco stores in a 26 ounce package with the UPC number 41163-42406, as well as the 4 pound package with UPC number 41163-42403. No illnesses have been reported. - Kellogg Co. announced the recall of two varieties of ShopRite brand peanut butter sandwich crackers because the products could be contaminated with salmonella. This organism can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections, especially in young children, the elderly and those with weakened immune systems. The recalled products include ShopRite Peanut Butter on Toasty Crackers, all sizes, and ShopRite Peanut Butter and Cheese Cracker Snacks, all sizes. The products were manufactured by Kellogg Co. and sold at ShopRite, which has stores in Connecticut, Delaware, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania.
