Temple upsets No. 13 Xavier 74-65

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - February 25, 2009 Shenita Landry added 14 and LaKeisha Eaddy had 12 points for the Owls (19-8, 10-3 Atlantic-10), who won their 21st consecutive regular season league game at home.

It was Temple's first win in four tries over a ranked team this season. The Owls previously fell to Auburn, Rutgers and Duke.

Special Jennings scored 14 points, Jerri Taylor added 13 and Ta'Shia Phillips had 10 points and nine rebounds for Xavier (24-5, 12-1), which lost its first conference game this season. April Phillips also had 10 rebounds.

The Musketeers hadn't lost since a 75-57 defeat on Dec. 21 at Arizona State.

Temple led by as many as 16 points in the first half and held a 39-25 advantage at halftime.

Lindsay Kimmel hit three 3-pointers in the second half to help the Owls maintain the lead. Her second one gave Temple a 59-47 advantage with 9:34 left. But Xavier responded with a 6-0 run to get within 59-53 with 7:34 left.

Kimmel hit another 3-pointer and Eaddy connected on a short baseline jumper to put the Owls ahead 64-53.

The Musketeers never got closer than six the rest of the game.

Xavier had won the previous three meetings against Temple and still leads the all-time series 10-9.
