Students find wedding band in donation can

Some Penn State fraternity brothers who collected money in New Jersey for pediatric-cancer research found a gold men's wedding band in one of their cans. They're trying to determine whether the ring was a donation or fell into the can by accident.

The students solicited traffic at the intersection of Route 28 and the entrance to Bridgewater Promenade shopping center on Valentine's Day weekend.

Cole Wermstich says it didn't occur to him that someone may have mistakenly dropped the wedding band until his father wondered why it was there.

Bridgewater police have received no reports of a missing ring.

The students collected $1,700 in cash.
