Coste to get Phillies' backup catcher's job

CLEARWATER, Fla. (AP) - March 28, 2009 Coste finally found out Saturday morning that the Phils had sent Ronny Paulino, who had been competing with Coste for the backup catcher's job, to the San Francisco Giants in exchange for left-handed reliever Jack Taschner.

Coste will back up returning starter Carlos Ruiz. The 36-year-old Coste is entering his four season with the Phillies. He wrote a book last year on the journey of spending 11 years in independent and minor leagues before breaking through to the majors.
