The 29-year-old South Philadelphia woman is recovering from the minor injuries she sustained when she was struck by the cab.
The driver of the cab is being sought by police. They have expanded their search all across town.
Authorites impounded a cab that they believe is the vehicle they're looking for. They found it by using the parking authority GPS system that tracks the city's 1600 licensed taxis 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
However, the is a major hurdle investigators must clear before any charges can be filed: They must be able to place any suspect behind the wheel at the time of the accident.
Records show there are three or more persons licensed to operate the Old City Cab.
A spokesperson for Olde City Cabs told Action News that all the cabs are independently owned and operated.
Witnesses tell police the cab was traveling northbound on Broad Street struck the woman near Federal Street. The victim was carrying a small dog in a handbag at the time. The dog was unharmed.
The woman was taken to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital where she was treated and released for minor bumps and bruises.
The victim's name has not been disclosed so far.
