Teacher's aide convicted of sex assault charge

MOUNT HOLLY, N.J. (AP) - July 18, 2009 Donna Goebel of Westampton faces up to 10 years in state prison after being convicted Friday by a Burlington County jury.

Goebel, who was an aide at the Burlington County Special Services School district in Westampton, repeatedly denied having sexual contact with the 16-year-old. But she did allow him to sleep at her home and took him to Atlantic City and other places.

The teen testified that the two had sex at his Burlington City home several times in early 2008. Defense lawyers, though, argued that he gave contradictory statements regarding the allegations.

Goebel will be sentenced in October.
