Nothing to fear from 'snake in tree'

NEWARK, Del. - Septem ber 24, 2009 The picture was taken by a 13-year-old boy on Scottfield Drive in Newark back on Friday.

Jim White, of the Delaware Nature Society, said it was not a boa constrictor or a python, despite it's size. Instead, he said it was a rat snake.

While rat snakes have been known to get into homes and garages, they prefer trees. That would explain why it was hanging out among the leaves when it was photographed.

The snake was last seen slithering into the woods.
