Sources: Suspect in Chester drive-by shooting surrenders

CHESTER, Pa. - January 27, 2010

He was wanted for a drive-by shooting that injured 64-year-old Andrea Lee.

It happened last Saturday afternoon on 7th Street in Chester, Delaware County.

Police say Lee, a grandmother and retired social security worker, parked her car just a few steps from her door. This is where, police say, she was shot in the back.

Her daughter, Tamara, told Action News her mom had the presence of mind to grab her cell phone.

"She called 911 herself," Tamara Lee said.

Andrea was rushed to Crozer-Chester Medical Center where she still remains.

Police think Lee was caught in the crossfire from a group of young men trying to stop a car a half block away.

Cooper will be charged with attempted homicide and related charges.
