Two teens hurt after vehicle smashes into Burger King

LUMBERTON, N.J. - April 9, 2010

It happened around 12:15 p.m. at the restaurant at 1686 Route 38 in Lumberton.

Police say two teenage boys, who were eating their lunch inside Burger King, were injured when a vehicle crashed into the restaurant.

A 17-year-old suffered a cut but was otherwise okay and treated and released from the hospital.

His 16-year-old friend suffered a head injury and burns on his ankle from being temporarily caught under the vehicle. He was taken to Cooper Hospital.

Both the boys rode their bikes to the Burger King and they were parked outside the window from where they were sitting.

The driver, was taken to Virtua Memorial at Mount Holly and has non-life threatening injuries.

Preliminarily, Police believe the male driver may have mistakenly had the vehicle in the wrong gear when he applied the gas, resulting in the vehicle to head into the building. Salvage crews were cleaning up debris this afternoon.
