Pa. Treasury auctioning off valuables, cheap!

December 2, 2010

Every year, the Treasury receives millions of dollars in unclaimed property including the contents of safe deposit boxes.

The items are kept in the Treasury's vault and, after numerous attempts to locate the owner, the items are appraised and then auctioned off on eBay.

The Treasury has added new items to the auction in time for the holidays.

You'll find collectible keepsakes and ornaments, old coins and currency, beanie babies and even a sterling silver flute!

Jewelry is the most common item. For example, a men's 14-karat gold Omega watch is up for auction for $152.50. A ladies' half-carat diamond engagement ring is on sale for $78 while diamond heart earrings are going for $34.
