Those are just some of the bargains at The Attic, a "Buy/Sell/Trade" shop where you can also find deals like sweaters, from Gap, Banana Republic and Abercrombie for less than $20 each.
The Attic's been open on Main Street in Manayunk for about two years. And owner Margo Kuronyi is quick to point out how it's different from a traditional consignment shop.
"It's a Buy/Sell/Trade," she explains. "That means that instead of waiting for your clothing to sell and getting your return like you do in consignment, we give you either 30% in cash or 55% in store credit on the spot. You bring it in, you get it done within a day, you don't have to wait for anything."
Prices are about 30% of new retail. And though not everything here is high-end, it is all trendy, having been in stores in the last couple of years.
"We try to focus on casual weekend wear," Kuronyi explains. "We don't do a ton of professional wear, mainly jeans, sweaters, cardigans, boots, accessories, the whole shebang, but it's mainly casual weekend wear." We found denim from names like Calvin Klein, Guess and Free People.
And the store has a men's section. Ties are $2.00 each and shirts from Hollister, Kenneth Cole, and American Eagle, are priced from $15-$17.
"I would say 15-20% of our store is stuff with tags on it," Kuronyi adds. "A lot people buy clothing and then don't wear it and bring it in."
