Get your "Star Wars" celebration on!

May 4, 2011

"Star Wars" fans have, for some time, considered May 4th an unofficial, pun-inspired holiday to celebrate the storied sci-fi film franchise.

One of the biggest catch phrases from the "Star Wars" films is "May the Force be with you." So to mark today, which some call Luke Skywalker Day and some call Star Wars Day, observers commonly say "May the fourth be with you."

The official Star Wars May the 4th website promised a big announcement leading up to 9 a.m. Eastern Time, complete with a countdown clock. Although demand on the site's servers made getting the actual page troublesome at times, at 6abc.com we were able to get one load of the page to display that the complete "Star Wars" saga is going to be released on Blu Ray discs in September.

A pair of Twitter hashtags, #maythe4thbewithyou and #starwarsday were both trending all around the globe early Wednesday morning
