Nutter vetoed the legislation Tuesday. He says the issue of paid sick leave for all employees is important but keeping jobs in the city is a higher priority.
The mayor says the bill would have endangered jobs and put the city at a competitive disadvantage when trying to attract new businesses.
Supporters say the requirement would mean better jobs and more security for workers. Business owners counter that the requirement would be subject to employee abuse and add to the costs for their struggling businesses.
