I-78 reopens after wrong-way fatal crash in Pa.

LOWER SAUCON TWP., Pa. - July 26, 2011

State police say a passenger in the wrong-way vehicle was killed in the westbound lanes of Interstate 78 in Lower Saucon Township around 4 a.m. Tuesday. Two other people were injured. Police say a few hours later, a four-vehicle crash closed the eastbound lanes.

The crashes also caused major delays for morning commuters on east-west Route 22, which is an alternate route to the interstate.

The eastbound lanes reopened at about 10 a.m. Tuesday and all I-78 lanes had reopened by 1:50 p.m. Tuesday.

Officials haven't released the name of the person killed in the first crash, and the conditions of the two injured people were not immediately available.
