It happened around 11:00 p.m. Saturday evening on the 2100 block of Nedro Street, while an officer attempted to pull over a man riding an ATV.
Police say that after a brief chase, the suspect jumped off the ATV and carjacked a local delivery man.
While fleeing the scene in the delivery man's vehicle, the unidentified man struck the officer.
Shortly after, the suspect attempted to flee on foot.
As the suspect reached for his waist, two officers involved in the foot chase, fired several times.
The suspect was taken to Albert Einstein Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
An officer in the 14th District, struck by the stolen vehicle was also taken to Albert Einstein Hospital, where he is listed in stable condition.
The incident is still under investigation.
