Police say a 20-year-old man and 21-year-old woman were sitting in a car Wednesday afternoon near the Carvel Gardens apartment building in Laurel. That's when a man walked up to the car and began shooting through an open window of the vehicle.
The male victim was struck in the back and ankle. He was rushed to a hospital for emergency surgery. The female victim was struck in the back by numerous rounds. She was flown to a hospital by state police helicopter.
The suspect fled the area and has not been identified.
