Fire broke out just before 9:00 p.m. in the 300 block of Penbree Circle.
Fire was showing from a two-story dwelling on arrival and a second alarm was struck about 20 minutes later.
Chopper 6 over the scene just after 9:30 p.m. showed smoke billowing from the home.
A Lower Merion police officer was taken to Lankanau Hospital for minor smoke inhalation.
A 77-year-old woman who lives in the house was not home at the time of the fire.
The fire was placed under control at about 10:10 p.m.
