Puppy falls 15-feet down sewer vent pipe

ODESA, Del. - May 3, 2012

Approximately 20 firefighters responded to aid the dog.

The team had to employ the use of a Gradall excavator to dig about 6-feet down into the ground and then dug by hand to be able to cut the vent pipe and have better access to the puppy.

Crews used a snare on a pole and a rope with some dog treats to entice the puppy into the snare.

After 1.5 hours, the rescuers got the puppy into the snare and lifted her out.

The puppy named "Bonnie" was not injured and was turned over with tail wagging and licks all around to her happy and grateful owner.

The New Castle County Special Operations Team secured the vent hole to prevent any other mishaps.
