Philadelphia teen to trial in 3 killings, cabbie shooting

PHILADELPHIA - August 15, 2013

The defense attorney for 19-year-old Justin Mackie didn't argue against the murder charges during Wednesday's hearing, but asked a municipal judge to throw out the cabbie shooting charges by arguing that Mackie didn't know the other robbery suspect planned to shoot the victim. The judge rejected that argument.

Mackie is jailed on charges he shot a 51-year-old man trying to sell him a gun, and instead stole the weapon on July 9.

He's also charged with killing a 20-year-old man in an unspecified dispute July 15, and killing another man on July 18 because Mackie believed the man tried to set up Mackie's brother to get killed.
