A shelter-in-place has been lifted and a suspect is in custody after a barricade situation ended in Horsham Township.

HORSHAM TWP., Pennsylvania (WPVI) -- A shelter-in-place has been lifted and a suspect is in custody after a barricade situation ended in Horsham Township.

It started just before 4:30 a.m. Tuesday on Horseshoe Circle and School Road.

Authorities say police were called to the unit block of Horseshoe Circle for reports of a domestic assault.

The victim of the assault reportedly fled the home and sought assistance from a neighbor.

Upon arrival, police say they learned the suspect physically assaulted the victim and allegedly threatened her with a rifle. That's when she fled the home, according to investigators.

At the scene, officers were unable to make contact with the suspect and declared a barricade situation.

A shelter-in-place was called for residents on Horseshoe Lane. County Road was also closed to traffic at Witmer, according to township officials.

Neighboring homes were evacuated as well.

Chopper 6 was overhead as SWAT surrounded the house.

SWAT negotiators were eventually able to take the suspect into custody without further incident, according to police.

Investigators have not released any further details on this incident. The suspect's identity has not been released.
