Former Newark Mayor Sharpe James will get two trials stemming from federal corruption charges. A judge today ordered James to be tried separately on improper credit card charges and on land fraud charges with Tamika Riley.

Riley will be tried separately on a housing fraud charge.

The first trial would begin on February 26th.

James has pleaded not guilty.

James is accused of using city-issued credit cards to pay for $58,000 worth of personal trips and expenses. He's also accused of engineering the sale of city-owned properties at a cut rate to Riley.
