N.J. justices take on school funding

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - January 23, 2008

Advocates for children in some of the state's poorest school districts are trying to force the state to pay for the next round of school construction in cities.

The Education Law Center argues the Corzine administration is dragging its feet on building schools, which was mandated by the court in the past.

State officials say New Jersey should put more than $3 billion toward the next round of construction. But they haven't said where the money would come from.

Arguments are scheduled for Wednesday morning.
