Action News was there as officers used flashlights to search for evidence along the 200 block of East Willard Street in the city's Kensington section.
Police say ran after a suspect just after 12:30 a.m. Sunday. The suspect, who had a warrant out for his arrest, reached into his waist and threatened to shoot them.
Officers fired, hitting the man several times. He was rushed to Temple Hospital in critical condition.
