Dutch teen claims to see missing girl
AMSTERDAM, Netherlands (AP) - February 20, 2008 Newspaper De Gelderlander interviewed Melissa Firing, 18, who
said she saw the girl at the restaurant L'Arche near the French
city of Montpellier on Feb. 15.
McCann has been missing since May 3, 2007, when she disappeared
during a family vacation in Praia da Luz in Portugal. She vanished
days before her 4th birthday.
Firing, in Nijmegen, Netherlands, told the newspaper she was
sure the girl was Madeleine because of the way she reacted when she
called her name, and because she was able to look her in the eyes.
A man accompanying the child then took her and quickly left the
restaurant, the teenager said.
French police were reviewing security videotapes of the
incident, the newspaper said.
