Corzine expects total smoking ban in casinos

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. - March 5, 2008 - The governor told The Associated Press today that he considers the current ban barring smoking to no more than 25 percent of the casino floor to be a temporary measure that will one day give way to a total ban.

But he won't push lawmakers to enact such a ban right away.

Corzine also says he'll sign a law to keep gambling halls open if state government shuts down, so long as constitutional problems involving borrowing authority and the definition of essential are addressed.

Corzine also says financing for two proposed Atlantic City mega-casinos worth $7 billion appears solid.

And a third should still get built even if it is delayed by the slowing economy.
