More rate hikes are taking effect, because of rising fuel prices.

People who take taxis in Philadelphia are now paying more.

The base daytime rate is increasing 50 cents, from $2.70 to $3.20, and the fare per mile is going up 20 cents as well, to $2.30.

Also, the Philadelphia Parking Authority authorized a $1.00 per passenger surchage after the first passenger, only for trips to and from center city Philadelphia and Philadelphia International Airport. This $1 charge per passenger is on top of the flat rate trip fare.
