The School District of Philadelphia is considering ending free transportation for an estimated 13,000 students. In Philadelphia children through the sixth grade ride School buses.

But older students ride Public buses, subways and trolleys - and the district subsidizes the cost of those rides.

But school officials believe they could save $8-million a year by eliminating free transit passes for those who live within two miles of their schools.

They're also considering making 85-percent attendance a requirement to get passes.
