Schuylkill Expressway project underway

An $8.1 million project will result in a smoother drive on the Schuylkill Expressway (I-76) between Philadelphia's City Avenue and the Blue Route (I-476). There will be another section of work done between Croton Road and Route 202.

However, to get that re-paved, smoother ride, drivers are going to have to wait through late night and overnight lane closures. The work will be done between 8 pm and 5 am.

In addition to re-paving, workers will install a swinging gate in the divider between Conshohocken & Gladwyne. If an accident closes traffic lanes in one direction, police will then be able to divert traffic onto the other side of the road.

The work is expected to be completed by the end of October. During the upcoming July 4th and Labor Day holidays, construction work will be completely suspended in an effort to help cut down on traffic congestion even during the late night and overnight hours.
