Mayor of Trainer Boro arrested for DUI

TRAINER, Pa. - August 11, 2008 Philadelphia police say 52 year old Eugene Maysky was drunk when they pulled him over for driving without headlights at 3:10 Friday morning.

Court records show the mayor has been arrested three times for DUI since 1988, twice since he's been mayor.

It has outraged his constituents. "I feel he needs to step down or they should ask him to step down. This is no example for the kids, people in the community," said Debby Quintana.

Action News tried to find Mayor Maysky at his home, but the person who answered the door said he was not home and asked for privacy, saying "everybody makes mistakes." The mayor wasn't at his day job either as a firefighter for the city of Chester.

He's had the job for 20 years, but it's now in jeopardy.

According to the union contract, if he loses his driver's license for more than a year, he's fired.

Some in Trainer can't believe that a public official with a public safety job could get arrested repeatedly for DUI.

Trainer is a small town of 2,000 where people watch out for each other.

Borough Councilwoman Shannon Herbert says council members have signed an agreement not to talk to the media.

Action News has learned that borough council will meet in special executive session Monday night to discuss the mayor's situation, but the doors will be closed to the public.
