Court: Alleged subway attacker incompetent

September 18, 2008 9:46:14 AM PDT
The suspect in the hammer attack on the Broad Street subway has been found incompetent to stand trial and will undergo further evaluation. That is the outcome of a hearing this morning for 26-year-old Thomas Scantling of North Philadelphia. He is charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault.

Police say Scantling is the man seen on surveillance video beating 20-year-old Dwayne Taylor with a hammer on a septa train earlier this month.
