He's been an avid ice fisherman for 18 years.
He drills through inches of ice to drop his line in lakes in Nebraska and South Dakota.
Kaup tells Nebraska's Columbus Telegram newspaper he can catch more fish in winter than in the summer.
He also likes the lack of bugs this time of year.
Kaup adds that at the end of a day of ice fishing, he doesn't go home with a sunburn, either.
