Students' kitchens trashed in spring break-ins

EASTON, Pa. (AP) - March 10, 2009 They may want to clear out the kitchen cupboards as well.

Public Safety Officer Hugh Harris at Lafayette College in Easton says students should take portable valuables with them when they're gone on spring break later this month.

Break-ins were reported in at least three off-campus rentals when Lehigh University in Bethlehem was on spring break last week, with an unusual twist. All three had their kitchens trashed, with chocolate syrup, cooking oil and sauce spread around and walls splattered with eggs. Detective Sgt. William Doseldo calls the offbeat vandalism just "weird."
