Police in Upper Darby, Pa. have made an arrest in the rape, beating and murder of an elderly woman insider her home last year.Billy Williams is under arrest for the murder of 84-year-old Jane Morgan inside the Long Lane Apartments in September, 2008.

Morgan lived alone in her apartment just outside downtown Upper Darby since 1971. Police say she was killed inside her fourth floor apartment and her body was found by a worker in the building.

Police say Williams has a prior record including a rape in Philadelphia in 1980 and an arson a few years before that.

"Even animals don't kill for sexual gratification," said Superintendent of Police Michael Chitwood at a Monday news conference. "This guy killed not only for robbery, but for sexual gratification."

Police say most of Morgan's injuries were internal, that's why it took the medical examiner time to determine that this was a homicide. The official cause of death has been ruled suffocation.

Neighbors and police say she was such a familiar face in the building, she was known to leave her door unlocked. There was no sign of forced entry.
