"I'm scared because I love him and he has a family and he deserves to live," Miesha Hines, Kievere's fiancée, said.
A tearful Miesha Hines has been by the bedside of her battered and brusied fiancé ever since he was struck by a car while riding his bicycle on Maryland Avenue and Van Buren Street on July 12th.
Surveillance video shows the impact as the bike and car collide, leaving investigators to know the driver intentionally left the scene.
"There's no doubt it was almost a head on collision. The bike was forced on the front of the vehicle, struck the windshield. There's no doubt the driver knew he hit someone," Master Sergeant James Gestwick of the Wilmington Police Department said. "When you leave someone like that to die, it's like you have no remorse, you have no feelings, because that could be your son, that could be you."
Kiavere and Miesha couldn't have been happier when they recently attended her prom at Dickinson High School, or when their now 8 and a half month old son was born, but the couple's future is uncertain, because Kiavere was left with severe head trauma.
Miesha has just one message for the hit and run driver: "I know it's on your mind and I know it's on your heart that you hit somebody and left so the best thing for you to do is to turn yourself in."
Short of that, police are asking for the public's help.
The car is described as a dark 4-door Honda Civic with white tags, and serious front end damage. The driver was a man.
