1 dead, 3 injured in Newark airport shuttle crash

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - July 22, 2009 Port Authority spokesman Steve Coleman says a shuttle operated by the Newark airport Marriott and a First Transit bus contracted by FedEx to carry employees collided head-on along South Service Road around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The shuttle bus driver was pronounced dead at University Hospital in Newark.

Port Authority spokesman Mike Hall says three shuttle passengers were injured, including a woman in serious but stable condition. The First Transit bus driver was not injured.

No names have been released.

Port Authority police are investigating the crash.
