Montco insurance agent arrested for fraud

NORRISTOWN, Pa. - August 5, 2009 Brian Johnson, 61, the owner of Valley Forge Insurance Company, is charged with defrauding 14 customers.

Pennsylvania Attorney General Tom Corbett says Johnson collected premiums from elderly customers that were to be used for long-term care insurance or life insurance.

Instead, Corbett says, Johnson deposited the money into both his personal bank account or the company's bank account.

Those customers were left with no policies or cancelled policies.

The victims range in age from 75 to 96, and were from Montgomery, Schuylkill, Lancaster, York, Chester and Philadelphia counties.

Johnson is charged with 14 counts of misapplication of entrusted property, 14 counts of theft by deception, 14 counts of theft by failure to make required disposition of funds and one count of insurance fraud.

Johnson was released on $10,000 unsecured bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for August 12, 2009.
