All-star menu at Citizens Bank Park

PHILADELPHIA - October 29, 2009

2009 WORLD SERIES

That means the pressure is on! (And weren't not just talking about the players)

The people making the food say they're ready to bring their A-game! They want to make sure that this city is well represented not just at home plate...but on your plate.

"They're both great teams. I'm sure they have good food up there, but we're trying--not to get too cliche, but we're trying to hit a home run with this food," said Rich Freedman, the chef at Harry the K's at Citizens Bank Park.

Call it a 'culinary competition' pitting New York's cheese pizza against Philly's cheesteak, of which some 6,100 will be sold--per game.

The 1200 food service workers at Citizen's Bank Park also expect to serve 16,500 hot dogs, 4,400 sausage sandwiches, and countless cups of beer each night. And this year, in addition to two new places to buy food, there is one new dish, inspired by memories of seasons past:

Harry the K's lasagna.

"When I picture myself sitting out here in this chilly World Series weather, nothing's going to warm me up better than that," said Freedman.

Price tag: $16, all part of the experience the kitchen staff is cooking up.

"I think our role here is to provide a selection of food that, if you're here, anyone will have a selection to choose from. And to enhance the fan experience, that's what our role is here.," said Senior Executive Chef Glen Richman.

"And to root for the Phillies, of course!"
