The fire broke out around 6:15 in an apartment above a barber shop in the 3500 block of Frankford Avenue.
Firefighters battled flames and extremely cold temperatures as flames were shooting from the apartment. Crews were able to get the upper hand on the blaze after about twenty minutes.
There were no injuries reported in the blaze, although at least two people were left homeless.
