$2 blackjack tables resurrected at AC casino

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) - February 14, 2010

Resorts Atlantic City recently resurrected $2 games at two blackjack tables for a trial run. But it comes with a twist - players have to pay a 25-cent fee per hand on bets between $2 and $5.

The fee is the first of its kind in the gambling resort.

Casino officials say the $2 tables target players who are just learning blackjack and may be intimidated by higher-limit games. The 25-cent fee helps defray operating costs.

Once common in Atlantic City, $2 blackjack tables have been replaced by higher-limit games in the profit-driven industry.

But Resorts says if the $2 tables become popular, it may add more or bring $2 betting to other games.
