Free Wednesdays at Kangaroo U

HAVERTOWN, Pa. - March 3, 2010

It's called "Recession Wednesdays" and all this month -- on Wednesdays -- Kangaroo U at 19 East Eagle Road is waiving its $5 per kid admission fee.

"We're giving them a chance to bring their kids in, even though they can't afford it," explains Kangaroo U owner Andrea Miller, a grandmother of ten. "We have a lot of people in this area out of work. We've had a couple dads come in and say,'Oh, this is great! Two out-of-work dads and we have a place to bring our children. ' "

The promotion isn't limited to the unemployed. And lots of parents are discovering Kangaroo U as a place to let their children burn off some steam when the playgrounds are snowed under and the temperatures are freezing.

"It's always nice to get them out, to get them exercise, so they sleep well at night, keep 'em active. It's always good," Mom Julie Bonocore of King of Prussia, Pa., said.

Abbey Smith of Bala Cynwyd added, "It's nice that it's a small enough area that they can run around and I don't have to be on top of them. And it's a good way to tire them out."

Admission is for up to two hours and an adult must accompany children while they play.
