NE Phila. apartment fire ruled accidental

NORTHEAST PHILADELPHIA - February 23, 2010

An electric heater was too hot and sparked the wall paper in an apartment, causing it to catch fire.

The fire happened at the St. Ives private community complex, located along the 200 block of Thornwood Place, shortly after 11:00 p.m. Monday.

Arriving fire crews reported heavy smoke coming from the building. Within 10 minutes a second alarm was sounded.

Crews were able to contain the fire to one apartment on the second floor.

The fire was placed under control at 11:33 p.m.

There were no injuries.
