Police in Los Angeles report the couriers spotted someone stealing a mountain bike.
The bike messengers chased the bike bandit for five blocks on busy downtown streets.
When they caught up to the guy, police say he was grabbed by the shirt and pulled to the ground.
The $500 bike was saved but the crook ran away.
Police say they're looking for a guy with a torn shirt, a possible sprained ankle and road rash.
