Station wagon crashes in Pa., killing 3 children

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) - April 11, 2010

A 57-year-old Duncannon woman was driving the car east on Route 322 in Dauphin County's Middle Paxton Township when "for unknown reasons" it veered out of the lane and hit the rail just after 10 p.m. Saturday, police said. The car then went over the rail, hit a guide wire, went airborne and hit a tree before going down the 50-foot embankment, they said.

Dauphin County Deputy Coroner Lynn Choborda pronounced dead a 5-year-old boy and a 3-year-old boy and a 3-year-old girl believed to be twins. Their names weren't immediately released.

The driver was taken to Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, where she was listed in serious condition on Sunday.

The cause of the accident is under investigation, police in Harrisburg said.
