Police: 18 members of Bloods gang charged in crackdown

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - April 27, 2010

Attorney General Paul Dow said Tuesday that the members of the Trey Nine Headbusters carried out orders from reputed leader Michael Anderson, who is serving time in state prison for related crimes.

The 37-year-old Anderson is said to have ordered drug sale operations and dictated gang promotions and punishments from his prison phone account.

Dow credits corrections officials' monitoring of prison inmate activities in the case, which investigators launched in 2007 under the mission name "Operation Hardhat."

Charges include racketeering, promoting organized street crime and illegal drug distribution.
