Flyers' Ian Laperriere out for the playoffs

PHILADELPHIA - April 28, 2010

Laperriere was hit by a puck blocking a shot during the third period of Thursday's first-round playoff game with the New Jersey Devils. The Flyers beat the Devils 3-0 to win the series 4-1.

Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren said in a statement on the team's website Tuesday that Laperriere saw doctors in Philadelphia on Monday and in Pittsburgh on Tuesday, and "Right now, it's not safe for him to play." Holmgren says Laperriere will not require surgery and will have another CT scan in about four weeks.

He has one assist and four penalty minutes in five playoff games, and he played in all 82 regular-season games, posting three goals and 17 assists.
