Police had heard several shots fired on the street. They then searched a nearby vacant building.
Investigators found three dogs, along with an assault weapon (AK-47), a handgun, and ammunition.
Two people were questioned by police and released.
The incident is under investigation.
The dogs are now being cared for by the Delaware County SPCA.
One of the dogs had a 5-pound chain around its neck.
The dogs are reported in to be OK. One dog is said to be pregnant.
