It happened in the unit block of Linden Court in Winslow Township shortly before 5 p.m.
The Lackey family tells Action News they were home watching the severe weather warning on television when they suddenly heard a boom.
"There was a real tremendous boom and we seen a flash and the sparks falling to the ground in the yard. I went outside and looked up and I couldn't see where the lightning hit."
The lightning bolt actually hit the roof of the upstairs bedroom, sparking flames that engulfed it.
The family says their belongings are replaceable and they feel lucky to have gotten out of the home safely
